ANTONI SLAVINSKI
MINISTER OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS

Antoni Slavinski was born on May 19, 1946 in Sofia. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Mechanical and Electric Engineering in Sofia (now  Technical University) with a degree in Radio Engineering. He specialized in Frequency Planning and Management (Geneva, 1980) and in Strategic Management and Control (Vienna, 1995). Until 1992 he was a research associate, head of section and head of division at the Research Institute of Communications. Slavinski has more than 40 scientific publications.

In 1992 he entered politics by joining the Democratic Party. During the same year he became Executive Member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company, he also served as Deputy Manager for Network Planning and Networking and headed a number of teams working on international projects, including a project of the EBRD.
In the period 1995 - 1996, when the BSP was in power, he was removed from all positions at the BTC and worked as a freelance consultant.
In March 1997, under the caretaker cabinet of Sofiyanski, Antoni Slavinski was appointed Chairman of the Committee for  Posts and Telecommunications and held this post until his ministerial appointment.
Antoni Slavinski is member of the Supreme Party Council of the Democratic Party. In June 1998 he was awarded the special "International Data Group" merit for his contribution to the Bulgarian telecommunications.
Slavinski speaks English, French, and Russian. Married, with a 10-year old son.
