He graduated from the Kliment Ohridski Unisversity in Sofia in 1980 with a degree in Law. He practised as a lawyer from 1980 to 1990. 1990 - 1991 - member of the National Council of the Green Party; after the GP left in 1991 the UDF coalition, he became member of the Conservative Ecological Party, formed by GP members who had remained in the UDF; CEP president since October 1993. 1991 - 1994 - deputy to the 36th National Assembly from the UDF. Member of the National Security Parliamentary Committee. 1994 -1997 - deputy to the 37th National Assembly from the UDF list. 1997 - deputy to the 38th National Assembly. Chairman of the Committee for National Security Defence. Chief Secretary of the UDF. 2000 -
expelled from the UDF on account of corruption allegations.
