Alexander Yordanov was born on 13 February 1952
in Varna.
He is a Bulgarian Philology graduate from the Higher Pedagogical Institute in Shoumen. 1979 - post-graduate student at the Insatiate of Literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. 1986 - he defended a thesis on the "Literary Criticism on Bulgarian Modernism"; research fellow at the Institute of Literature, BAS. 1990 - editor-in-chief of the "Vek 21" weekly. Since December 1989 he has been member of the RDP and its vice president until June 20, 1993, when at its 25th Congress he was elected leader of the RDP. 1991 - 1993 - deputy leader of the UDF. |
| 1990 - 1991 - MP from the UDF in the
Grand National Assembly and member of the Committee for Culture and the
Committee for Science and Education.
MP and Chairman of the 36th National Assembly.
1998 - Bulgaria's Ambassador to Poland. 1999 - by a presidential decree he was also appointed Ambassador to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. 2001 - appointed Ambassador to Macedonia. Alexander Yordanov is the author of over 200 scholarly
publications in various journals. He has also written the books "Personalities
and Ideas" /1986/, "In the Shadow of Words" /1989/, "Own-Alien Modernism"
/1993/, "Hope Versus Languid Time" /1993/.
