THE SACRIFICIAL ALTAR
Scholars assume the rectangle cut into the rock to be the sacrificial altar. It is right behind the throne. The groove highlighted in a previous picture is more readily visible here. This is the snakelike cleft on the far side of the rectangle. The offering's blood must have been draining down it, as the Priest was looking ahead. One wonders what exactly he was looking at.
